The National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) is an organization that assesses and accredits institutions of higher education in India. It is an autonomous body founded by was established in 1994 in response to recommendations of National Policy in Education (1986). This policy was to “address the issues of deterioration in quality of Education”. Consequently, the NAAC was established in 1994 with its headquarters at Bangalore. It is established to stimulate the Academic Environment for promotion of quality of teaching and learning and research in higher education institutions and to encourage Self Evaluation, Accountability, Autonomy and Innovations. It motivates the Institutions towards quest for excellence and use of technology.
